Raise a smile at lunchtime!
Try using Herdy cookie cutters to stamp out cute, sheep shaped sandwiches. It’s a fun and creative way to make simple sandwiches a bit more exciting.
Super easy to make, they work great with spreads, jams and sandwich fillings, meats or sliced cheese. Use different fillings each day to give your kids a surprise when they open their snack boxes.
Step 1
Take two slices of medium sliced bread and stamp out the shape, one slice at a time, using the Herdy cookie cutter. Press firmly to make sure the eyes and nose are clearly indented. Any leftover bread can be used to make breadcrumbs or croutons.
Step 2
Butter the inside of each slice of bread and spread cream cheese or sandwich spread on one slice and stick the sandwich together. If using meat or sliced cheese cut out the shape with the cutter and add to the sandwich.
Step 3
Finally, it’s time to make Herdy’s famous smile. Choose a vegetable that goes with the filling. We’ve used cucumber to go with a cream cheese filling. Carefully cut a thin and even slice of the skin approximately 2mm thick. Use shaped icing cutters or piping nozzles to cut out the cucumber into shapes for the eyes, nose and mouth. Then place them in the indents made by the Herdy cutter.
Or to mix things up, use a slice of wholemeal and a slice of white bread to create a fun, two tone sandwich. The only limit is your imagination.
