Herdy Supports 10 Marathons in 10 Days

Known as one of the UK’s toughest running events, the Brathay 10 in 10 sees participants complete 10 marathons in 10 days.

Set amongst the picturesque backdrop of the English lake district, the Windermere marathon may be a delight for the eyes, but a punisher for the thighs! The course, which consists of a total of 262 miles, is an anti-clockwise circuit of Windermere, taking in Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness and Ambleside along the way.

Herdy is extremely proud to have sponsored Maria Masters, an incredible Marathon runner who has always had a soft spot for The Lake District. “I was married at the church in Bowness" said Maria, "it is a place I come to as often as I can for relaxation so it only seems logical to come here to suffer in aid of such a fabulous cause!”

The challenge was all to raise money for The Brathay Trust, an amazing charity which aims to improve the lives of children, young adults and families by giving them a way to positively engage with their communities and develop skills, attitudes, resilience and behaviours that will give them the platform to fully flourish in life and become a positive influence for those around them.

Maria successfully completed 'The Brathay 10 in 10' in a total time of 47 hrs 36 minutes, with an average daily running time of 4 hrs 45 minutes. There were only 6 women who participated in the race this year, with Maria finishing 3rd and 2nd in her age range and 13th overall. “I feel very honoured that I was part of this year’s team, before this event there had only been 47 women who have made it onto the Brathay 10 in 10 runners list. The memories I have made I will treasure for the rest of my life.”
