Herdy and Grasmere School Celebrate 400 Years of Education with Limited-Edition Notebook
To celebrate an extraordinary 400 years of education in the heart of the Lake District, Herdy has teamed up with Grasmere School to create a beautifully illustrated, limited-edition notebook. A cheerful tribute to four centuries of learning, community, and heritage.
The notebook was officially launched during the school’s end-of-year performance of Matilda. With only 500 copies available, this special edition item is being sold exclusively through Grasmere School and the Herdy Grasmere shop and is already generating a buzz in the local community.
The design was generously donated by the creative team at Herdy, who took inspiration from the school’s rich history and spectacular Lake District surroundings. Brimming with charm and local character, the notebook’s cover features playful Herdy figures exploring the fells, splashing in streams, picking daffodils in a nod to Wordsworth, rowing boats, and even cartwheeling through the scenery. Well known village landmarks, including the school, the church, the local school bus, and the Gingerbread shop (once the original schoolhouse) are beautifully illustrated, bringing the vibrant community and its story to life.
Kate Gunia, graphic designer for Herdy said “It was a really fun and rewarding project to be involved with and great to know the school will benefit from the funds raised”.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with the iconic Herdy brand on the Grasmere School notebook, a beautiful celebration of 400 years of education at the heart of our village,” said Jo Goode, Head Teacher at Grasmere School. “This partnership not only honours our rich history but also helps secure our future, with all proceeds going toward ensuring Grasmere School continues to support and inspire the children of our community for the next 400 years.”
Herdy, which opened its first shop in Grasmere in 2010, was a natural partner for the project.
“Grasmere has a very special place in our hearts, being the location of our first ever shop,” said Sally Proctor, Herdy’s Social and Communications Manager. “We were delighted to be asked to help celebrate this incredible milestone for the school, and to create something meaningful, full of character, and guaranteed to make people smile.”
All proceeds from notebook sales will go towards Grasmere School’s ambitious £200,000 fundraising campaign. Aimed at improving and extending the school’s facilities. Plans include creating new indoor spaces for meals, activities, and community use; essential developments to ensure the school continues to thrive for generations to come.
